Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about intake, documentation, independent review, payment, privacy, and North Carolina requirements.
What medical conditions may support a tint exemption request?
Light-sensitive conditions such as lupus, photophobia, migraines, albinism, certain eye conditions, and treatment-related sensitivity may be relevant. A diagnosis or symptom does not automatically qualify anyone. You must identify at least one condition or symptom during intake, and an independent licensed provider decides whether the available information supports clinical documentation.
What documents are generally helpful?
In many cases, useful documentation includes your name, the treating professional or facility information, and the condition or symptoms involved. For a surgery-related issue, a letter on the facility's letterhead confirming that you received treatment may help. Requirements vary by state and by individual case, so contact MyEyeRx if you are unsure what to provide.
What is MyEyeRx's role?
MyEyeRx is the consultation and referral coordination partner for this site. It supports intake, scheduling, payment administration, and follow-up. MyEyeRx and this website do not make clinical decisions; those decisions are made by independent licensed providers.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on document completeness, provider availability, whether more information is needed, and any separate state or agency process. No review, certificate, or agency-processing time is guaranteed.
Do I need an in-person visit?
The intake begins online. An independent provider may be able to review the matter remotely, but may request additional records, a conversation, or an in-person evaluation when clinically or legally appropriate.
What happens if the documentation does not support an exemption?
Submitting an intake form or making a payment does not guarantee clinical approval, issuance of documentation, or acceptance by an agency. Payment and refund questions are handled under the posted refund policy, and billing concerns may be reviewed case by case. A $25 refund processing fee applies to ALL refunds, regardless of the reason; call (734) 338-8453 before paying to confirm you have everything needed and avoid it.
Will law enforcement or the North Carolina motor-vehicle authority accept my paperwork?
No website, coordinator, or provider can guarantee how an officer, court, installer, insurer, or government agency will interpret or accept documentation. North Carolina requirements can change. Verify current rules with the appropriate North Carolina authority before changing vehicle tint.
How dark can I tint my windows?
Permitted tint placement and light-transmission levels depend on current North Carolina law and any applicable exemption. Clinical documentation is not installation advice and does not authorize tint beyond what the law or issuing authority allows.
How is my information handled?
Information may be processed by MyEyeRx and service providers used for intake and customer management, payment processing, hosting, and independent clinical review. Stripe processes payment-card data; the site does not intentionally store full card numbers. See the privacy policy for details and avoid sending sensitive medical records through ordinary email unless specifically instructed through an appropriate channel.
Who can answer questions about my intake?
